They say that before nature introduces you to the one destined for your soul, she silently prepares you. She orchestrates chaotic situations, tests your patience, and crafts your character, moulding you into the exact person you need to be for that fateful meeting.
In my story, the strict, unyielding rules of my household were the silent architects making me worthy of my love.
I grew up in a traditional Indian joint family. To the outside world, humanity may have conquered the moon, but inside the four walls of my home, time seemed to stand still. The ancient laws remained unbroken—as soon as dusk fell, the main door was locked. The mere thought of modern teenage rebellions or casual friendships with girls was a forbidden luxury. For a long time, these invisible boundaries kept me completely isolated and different from everyone else my age.

The Shield of Simplicity
I am not boasting about being a righteous person; I am simply acknowledging that sometimes, a few strict boundaries and a little self-control can unexpectedly turn you into someone’s ultimate choice.
Whether the world believes it or not, my love eventually fell for my raw simplicity and my unpretentious way of living. And ironically, the very rules I once felt trapped by became the reason she chose me.
The deep-rooted respect for my elders and the constant echo of those household rules acted as a shield, keeping me miles away from bad company. I firmly believe that to truly become someone’s choice, your heart must be clear of deceit. There is absolutely no room for lies in true love; a person who builds a relationship on falsehoods can never truly love anyone. Navigating through these rigid family expectations, I quietly focused on my goals, completed my education, and earned a degree in teaching.
Compulsions and the Classroom
Shortly after graduating, a dear friend of mine—who had been my shadow from the 9th grade all the way through our B.Sc. days—approached me with a request. He wanted me to teach at his school.
By this time, stepping into professional life wasn’t just a choice; it had become an absolute compulsion. The heavy air of my house had grown thick with sharp, sarcastic remarks about my unemployment. Driven by the sting of those family taunts, I agreed to join my friend’s school. There were no nerve-wracking interviews or interrogations awaiting me; the place felt familiar.
The only thing brand new was the daunting question: How do I teach, and what do I teach?
Yet, against all my apprehensions, three beautiful years slipped by like a breeze. Surrounded by incredibly smart children, supportive fellow teachers, and newfound camaraderie, I found my rhythm. The immense love and respect I received from those kids and colleagues during those three years became a treasure I will carry forever.

The Puppet Master of Fate
But destiny, as always, had grander, more turbulent plans for me. The universe was getting desperate to push me toward my ultimate destination.
Call it luck, or call it the mysterious hand of a puppet master who was about to lead me to the very birthplace of my love story.
It all started at a family function, where my father ran into a relative who taught at a private English-medium school. At that point in time, my father’s mind was heavily weighed down by a single, lingering desire—to see his son earn a substantial, respectable income. Seeing an opportunity, that relative masterfully planted a new ambition into my father’s thoughts.
When we returned home, that silent ambition quickly transformed into forceful words. My father stood before me, the weight of his expectations bearing down heavily. His ultimatum was clear: I had to leave the comfort of my current school, pack my bags, and move to a completely new city. That relative would help me secure interviews and find a “better” school.
I stood at the crossroads of my life. I had no idea that this forced exile, born out of family pressure and taunts, was actually the universe dragging me by my hand—straight toward the girl who would change my life forever…
